Describe your style in three words?
Fucked Up Bardot
The first track you played on repeat? And where did you play it?
Crazy Town - Butterfly
I demanded it be repeated over and over in my parent's Ford, and only recently discovered that the riff is a sample from a Red Hot Chili Peppers song. I think they missed a trick not milking it like Crazy Town did because this is a BANGER.
A song from your favourite album? And what does this track mean to you?
Arctic Monkeys - Riot Van
Another one played in my dad's car, this one on the way to sprint training. This album was just fucking brilliant, and became even more poignant after I'd been to uni in Sheffield...Riot Van is my dad's favourite, and I'm inclined to agree with him.
A song from your most memorable gig?
Shame - The Lick
It might sound melodramatic, but Shame at Scala in 2017 felt like a tide change in London's cultural landscape. Shame were and continue to be the perfect mid-Brexit band.
A song that always gets you up and dancing?
IDLES - Samaritans
I teared up when I first heard this (in a car en route to a best friend's funeral), and it fills me with enough joy to attempt to dance to it - much like the rest of IDLES' discography.
A new song you're listening to? Why do you like this artist?
Dave - Black
Goosebump-inducing lyrics and sounds from a truly visionary musician.
Best song to turn up loud? And why?
a-ha - Take on Me
No one can sing this song well, and therein lies the appeal in turning it all the way up and trying.
A song that defines the teenage you? And the memories it evokes?
Paramore - Fences
I never let my inner emo shine too brightly on the outside, but internally, I was invested in utter melodrama, and absolutely still am.
An anthemic song? Why does it get your pulse racing?
Ariana Grande - no tears left to cry
Ariana Grande sings some of the best pop written in recent memory, and this one has been a mid-cooking dance anthem for my boyfriend and I since it came out.
Best song to end an all-nighter?
Aerosmith - I Don't Want to Miss a Thing
More melodrama for emotional 3am's. The song they played last at Uni of Sheffield's Class of 2015 Pop Tarts.
