Joe Boyd has made some of my favourite records with Nick Drake, Fairport Convention and The Incredible String Band amongst others... Jean Claude Vannier was the string arranger for most of Serge Gainsbourg's records, most notably Histoire de Melody Nelson, and was an incredible composer in his own right, so I'd get him in too...
What’s the best gig you’ve ever been too?
Seeing My Bloody Valentine at The Roundhouse a few years ago was memorable just for the sheer volume alone, not to mention Loveless is one of my favourite ever records.
What British music icons inspire your sound today?
Sandy Denny, Dusty Springfield, Delia Derbyshire, Elizabeth Fraser, The Smiths, Siouxsie Sioux.
You can spend an hour with anyone from history - who would it be and why?
Right now I'd be pretty keen to have a chat with the production company that made The Apprentice USA and implore them not to put Donald Trump on TV. Otherwise, I would really like a to have a whisky with Leonard Cohen and his infinite wisdom...
Rose Elinor Dougall, formerly of The Pipettes, as well as a collaborator and performer with Mark Ronson & The Business Intl, will release her second solo album 'Stellular' on 20th January 2017.

Natalie Mering has one of the best voices I've heard in a long time. I absolutely love her new album 'Front Row Seat to Earth', melodically and lyrically it really speaks to me.
'Telescope' by Vanishing Twin
This is the band of my very good friend and collaborator Cathy Lucas. Check out the album 'Choose Your Own Adventure'. It's free and experimental but without being self-indulgent. Basically, it's excellent.
'On Course' by C Duncan
I really the way he's used layers of his voice in tandem with various synths to create this soaring texture, and all his chord changes are the kind that make my ears happy...
'Another Dimension' by Toy
This is my brother's band so perhaps I'm biased, but I really believe their new album 'Clear Shot' is one of the best things they've ever done.
