Name, where are you from?
VASTAR, Taipei, Taiwan.

What do you do?
I am a graffiti artist.

What’s the best gig you’ve ever been to?
Nogizaka 46’s concert is great!

Which subcultures have influenced you?
Graffiti has made a lot of impact on me. It can be done on any surface, bringing little surprises, even in the most ignored corner.

Of all the places you've worked, which is your favourite?
A high wall at the corner of a traffic interchange area in Taiwan. I did imagine how hard it is to spray there as it can only be done with a construction lift, but it was also important to watch out for the traffic and pedestrians. Imagine that!

If you could work alongside any artist in history?
I would love to paint side by side with Jean-Michel Basquiat. I want to learn his open and free-spirit style.

If you could spend an hour with anyone from history?
I wish I could tell myself from 10 years ago not to have fears for the future.

Your greatest unsung hero or heroine in music?
What matters most is living a real life; genuine experiences are what fuel emotions in the music.

04Playlist Notes

The first track you played on repeat?
'Real' by io, a Taiwanese band. I was very much drawn to the lyrics.

A song that defines the teenage you?
'Butterfly' by Kouji Wada. There is a part of the lyrics that mention the “infinity of dreams” that was really inspiring to the childhood me.

One record you would keep forever?
io’s debut album 'Even If You Win Today, So What?'.

A song lyric that has inspired you?
“even if you win today, so what? Do you really feel happy?”

From 'Real' by io. I feel quite moved by this. Whenever I create, I always try to add happy elements that feel real to me. Also, I often think about whether what I create now makes my life happy.

Best song to turn up loud?
Usually, I go for sad love songs, such as 'The Best Ending' by 831 (a Taiwanese band).

A song people wouldn’t expect you to like?
Songs by idols like Nogizaka 46 and GARNiDELia.

Any new music you are listening to now?
Recently I’ve been listening to AccuseFive, a Taiwanese band. There is something psychedelic about their videos. The more I listened to it, the more I fell in love with it.
